About

We will be a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization founded by musicians, writers and artists to promote local performing arts by emphasizing live performance, audience development and support of local talent.

Q: Who are we?
A: We are a diverse group of musicians and artists consisting of orchestral, chamber and jazz musicians, composers and conductors, visual artists, writers, producers, managers and more. Many of us span more than one of these groups. What unites us is a commitment to opening up the world of music to more people on a local scale focused on our immediate social and cultural community ecosystem.

Q: Why are we doing this?
A: While the current culture of virtual, long distance digital-only experiences has allowed mass communication possible, part of the last (20th) century’s major advances in western musical and artistic development was the concept of a “musical experience” that is visceral, live and intimate. We feel the gulf between musician and audience member has widened both in physical space, intellectual breadth and financial cost so we strive to help re-educate the musician to connect with the audience and in turn the audience with how to be receptive to the experience and how to be engaged in “the moment”.

Q: Will this be recorded? Can I post anything on social media about this?
A: No and please no. We want everyone to feel comfortable experimenting and performing for others. We’re not recording anything, or taking photos. Nothing should be posted on the internet.

Q: What sorts of events does the EBMC facilitate?
A: We are expanding from our original series of member-driven “salons” to include the following:

  • Salons short sets of a wide range of music and other performing arts (poetry, etc) with a special emphasis on works in progress.
  • PopUp Jazz Clubs featuring local well regarded artists in an intimate setting.
  • PB (& Jam) Sessions featuring a house band of professionals who play a short set and then open it up for audience participation.
  • Salons KIDS with a focus on kid-friendly performers and interactions.
  • Classical concerts featuring well regarded local artists with a focus on Western classical music.
  • Experimental is literally everything else.
